A vehicle was stolen straight from an Ok Tire shop in Williams Lake’s downtown in the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 11.
General manager Dustin Franklin told the Tribune he received a call at around 12:30 a.m. the night of the break-in because the shop’s alarm system was set off.
When he arrived, he found the front door had been smashed, apparently with a rock, and one of the shop’s bay doors was damaged as the stolen vehicle was reversed through the door.
“This is pretty aggressive, I haven't had anything remotely even close to this before,” Franklin said about the robbery.
Franklin said the damage caused by the theft may amount to the tens of thousands.
“Stampede Glass has been really good on being here right away to try to get us up and running again,” he added, while crews from the local glass services shop worked on fixing the broken front door and bay door.
Williams Lake RCMP said they were notified of the break and enter at 12:35 a.m., and viewed video surveillance of an unidentified suspect gaining access to the business and stealing the vehicle.
Update:
In a March 12 news release, police said the stolen vehicle was recovered, found near the location which it was stolen from. Two people found near the vehicle were spoken to, and police said two individuals are identified as people of interest.
RCMP continue to investigate the break-in.
