Vandals continue to strike in Parksville Qualicum Beach region

Oceanside RCMP also deal with auto theft, online scammers

Vandals continue to keep Oceanside RCMP busy.

On March 3, a vehicle was reported vandalized with damage to the ignition in the 1500 block of Sharons Place in Parksville. The same day, a locked vehicle was reported vandalized with passenger door lock and ignition damaged in the 400 block of Tyee Crescent in Qualicum Beach. On March 6, a vehicle was reported vandalized with a locking gas cap damaged and fuel siphoned in the 1000 block of Lee Road in Parksville. The next day, a locked vehicle was reported vandalized with passenger door lock and ignition damaged in the 400 block of Morison Avenue in Parksville.

During the week of March 3 to March 9, the Oceanside RCMP received 276 complaints and responded to more than 20 requests for a wellness check. Some of the other incidents included:

On March 4, a resident reported scammed out of $1,960 trying to sell an item on online, where they were sent a link where their bank information was compromised. The day before, a heat pump was reported stolen from a residence in the 2100 block of Honey Wulff Close in Nanoose Bay.

On March 5, a vehicle was reported stolen in the 400 block of Morison Avenue in Parksville. RCMP recovered the vehicle on March 6.

A male was reported to have entered a secured senior residence and stole an umbrella in the 100 block of First Avenue West in Qualicum Beach on March 7. The same day, a male was reported to have stolen a box valued at $300 containing coveralls and pants in the 1000 block of Lee Road East in Parksville.
