Commuters on Sooke Road are experiencing major expect delays today as traffic has slowed for Hydro work.
Drivers are reporting very slow traffic along Sooke Road beginning at Saseenos Elementary School.
The ongoing utility work between Lazzar and Woodlands roads, is likely causing the delays as traffic is slowed through construction.
Some have reported driving time through town taking up to 40 minutes to travel from Village Foods to River Road. Others have reported driving times taking 75 minutes to get from Wadams to Sooke River Road.
"This is completely unacceptable, they had ample time to formulate a satisfactory traffic pattern to minimize wait times." said one commenter on a Sooke traffic Facebook page.
"This is insanity, traffic control needs to try to keep traffic moving even if it is slow," another commenter stated.
Drivers should continue to expect delays as this work is expected to continue until Friday, May 9, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays, according to DriveBC.ca.
