Reports of theft and property damage continue to keep Oceanside RCMP members busy.
During the week of Sept. 2 to Sept. 8, police received 278 complaints. Some of the incidents included:
On Sept. 2, a male was reported to have stolen two gas cans and a fishing rod from a boat parked at the French Creek Marina in Parksville. The same day, a trailer was reported damaged and a propane fireplace missing in the 600 block of Hoylake Road West in Qualicum Beach. Also Sept. 2, a vehicle was reported stolen in the 700 block of Nanoose Avenue in Parksville. It was recovered by Nanaimo RCMP on Sept. 6.
On Sept. 3, a residential break-and-enter was reported with documents and an iPhone stolen in the 2000 block of Burgoyne Road in Coombs. The same day, an attempt to break into Canada Post mailboxes was reported in the 1000 block of Pratt Road in Qualicum Beach. Also Sept. 3, a white 1996 Ford Econoline van with raised roof with B.C. vehicle plates LC977B was reported stolen from the French Creek Marina. A blue-orange Cube Adventure brand e-bike was reported stolen after a lock was cut in the 1000 block of Tanglewood Place in Parksville. Also Sept. 3, a vehicle was reported vandalized with windows smashed in the 1200 block of Smithers Road in Parksville.
In Nanoose Bay on Sept. 4, a backpack containing a Nikon D7100 camera and lenses were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 3300 block of Henley Place. Two days later, Canada Post mailboxes were reported damaged with no entry in the 2900 block of Olympic Road in Qualicum Beach.
Also Sept 6, a vehicle was reported vandalized with damage resulting in the vehicle unable to start in the 100 block of Jensen Avenue in Parksville, and another vehicle in the same area was reported vandalized with a door handle broken off. An iPhone XS, cash and cards were some of the items reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the area of the Spider Lake Provincial Park in Qualicum Beach.
On Sept. 7, eggs were reported thrown at a house in the 2600 block of Kinghorn Road in Nanoose Bay. In Parksville, a rear fence was reported damaged again in the 200 block of Hirst Avenue in Parksville. A vehicle was reported vandalized with a window broken and a wallet missing in the area of the Spider Lake Provincial Park in Qualicum Beach. The same day, an iPad, Samsung S20 phone and other personal items were reported stolen from a vehicle through forced entry in the area of Sunnybeach Road and Island Highway West in Qualicum Beach.
In Qualicum Beach on Sept. 8, a vehicle was reported damaged with two windows broken and an iPhone and wallet missing at Lighthouse Trail near Lions Way. The same day, a vehicle was reported damaged with a window broken and a wallet missing at Illusion Lakes in Qualicum Beach.
