The Shuswap is invited eat, drink and be merry at a cocktail party fundraiser for Sorrento Elementary.
The Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) is again hosting its popular Sip Sip Hooray event in support of a school learning garden and the ongoing breakfast and lunch programs for students.
At the event guests will enjoy delicious small bites and a gourmet dessert table, a welcome beverage of their choice (beer – both alcoholic and non – wine, highball or cocktail) and samples from local wineries and breweries.
This year, organizers are focusing on locally sourced food and drinks, "highlighting the incredible skill and range our area has to offer."
"We don't always make the connection, but nutrition and food security are critical components to learning," PAC member and event organizer Rebecca Taylor said in a media release. "Showcasing local makers and producers to raise money for local kids is a natural match."
The evening will also feature hourly door prizes, music and dancing, and a 50/50 raffle with a potential payout of $2,500. Raffle tickets can be purchased online at tinyurl.com/SipSip5050, with the buyer not required to attend in order to win.
The event will be held at Shuswap Lake Estates Community Centre on Saturday, April 12, with the doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $60 at tinyurl.com/SipSipHooray2025, with the links also available on the Sip Sip Hooray Faceboook page.
