Parksville utilized more than $1M in grant funding last year

Funding includes $500K contribution to new Oceanside running track

Numerous City of Parksville projects were supported by more than $1 million in grant funding in 2024.

"The city gratefully acknowledges the major grant funds utilized for the projects," states a news release from the city.

From the Canada Community-Building Fund Community Works Fund Reserve, with original funding from the federal government, the city allocated a total of $690,000, which went towards the following projects:

• Oceanside Track - $500,000 (contribution to Qualicum School District project);

• Transportation Master Plan - $80,000;

• Instrumentation and controls (PLC) renewal (water system) - $110,000;

From the Growing Communities Fund Reserve, with original funding from the provincial government, the city allocated a total of $270,000.

• Drinking Water Master Plan - $70,000;

• Asphalt patching - $175,000;

• Moss Avenue Infrastructure Upgrades - $25,000.

From the Local Government Housing Initiatives Funding Program, with $214,000 of funding from the Province, the city allocated $60,000 in 2024 to the interim housing needs report and zoning and development bylaw updates.

The 2025 to 2029 financial plan was adopted by council earlier this month, which included funds allocated from these grants.
