The Parksville Curling Club has applied to the city for an outdoor patio, which if approved would be built next to the building's south entrance.

The building, located in the community park, is owned by the city and leased to the curling club.

The curling club already has an indoor licensed area, which is proposed to stay in place, according a report by Blaine Russell, the city's director of community planning and building.

The proposed patio has an occupant load of 186, while the building's total allowed occupancy is 300 people, limited by washroom availability.

Staff will advertise an opportunity for public feedback in writing and the club will put up notice advising the public about the application, following a council motion on June 2.

Once public input has been gathered in writing, council will have a chance to vote on the application.

Council will need to consider factors such as the impact of noise on nearby residents and the views submitted by residents to the city.
