Oak Bay police increase patrols following 'indecent act' at Willows Beach

"Public spaces such as beaches and parks are meant to be safe and welcoming for everyone," says Oak Bay PD.

Following a report of a man engaging in "sexually explicit behaviour" near the Willows Beach boardwalk, Oak Bay PD have increased patrols in the area.

At approximately 2:20 p.m. on July 5, police were warned that a man at the popular summer spot had been seen engaging in an "indecent act."

The man is described as in his 30s, with a medium-dark complexion and short black hair shaved on the sides. The suspect was wearing black shorts and a blue T-shirt. He left the beach before police arrived.

"Public spaces such as beaches and parks are meant to be safe and welcoming for everyone," Oak Bay PD said in a news release. "Acts of public indecency are illegal and can result in criminal charges."
