The University of Victoria was buzzing with hundreds of Oak Bay High students on June 19.
There for the school’s 2025 convocation, the teens in attendance, all of whom donned suits, gowns and mortarboards, took the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to snap photos with friends before walking across the Farquhar Auditorium's stage.
These students weren’t the only ones milling about the Saanich campus. With big smiles and bouquets, families showed up in droves for the kids’ big day.
The hours-long ceremony included a speech from the class's valedictorians, Justin Scott and Evie Faber, who told the Oak Bay News earlier this month that much of their address would focus on the importance of bravely facing life after high school.
“We're finishing one thing, but starting an entirely new, exciting journey,” said Faber. “We're allowed to make mistakes; just go off and be brave and explore and make what you can of this incredible life.”
