UPDATE: Power restored for more than 2,500 Kelowna residents in Rutland

The power outage in Rutland affecting 2,600+ Kelowna residents has been restored, as of 10:30 a.m.

According to FortisBC, the power outage has been restored.

Canada Day started in the dark for more than 2,500 Kelowna residents.

Since 9 a.m., 2,640 FortisBC customers in Rutland have been affected by a power outage. 

The outage extends from just south of McCurdy Road, along Rutland Road South, down to nearly the Kirschner Mountain area.

At this time, the cause of the outage is unknown and it's unknown when the power will be back.
