The District of Lantzville has purchases two lots of property as part of the district's strategic priorities "to preserve Lantzville's natural assets and thoughtful development."
Located at 7099 Lantzville Rd. and 6852 Wiles Rd., the area surrounding Blood's Creek was purchased for about $1.2 million, paid for through B.C.'s Growing Communities Fund. The fund is a provincial grant to "support the delivery of infrastructure projects necessary to enable community growth."
In a press release, the district said that public input will be considered on the use for the land. In the meantime, it asks the public not to enter the property.
"The property has many potential development opportunities, and council is pleased to be able to develop the property into a beautiful space for our community by potentially preserving the sensitive green space surrounding Blood’s Creek," the release noted.
Mayor Mark Swain told the News Bulletin that after council resumes from the summer break on Sept. 11, potential opportunities for the land will be discussed.
