Kamloops Rural RCMP are investigating a fatal head-on collision that occurred Thursday, Feb. 20 near the Big Sky Canco on the Skeetchestn Reserve.

“The driver and lone occupant of the car, a man in his late 50s from 100 Mile House, was found trapped in the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene,” said Corporal James Grandy in a news release.

Initial reports are that a car travelling westbound toward Ashcroft crossed the centre line and collided with an eastbound SUV.

Emergency crews responded at 9:18 p.m. and learned two occupants of the SUV sustained injuries and were transported by BC Emergency Health Services to Royal Inland Hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said a collision analyst attended the scene to assist in determining the cause of the crash and preliminary evidence suggests the car veered into oncoming traffic.

The BC Coroners Service is conducting a concurrent investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident is asked to contact Kamloops Rural RCMP at 250-314-1800.
