Construction is underway in downtown Penticton on a permanent cooling station that will feature misters and solar lights.

Crews are currently working to install the station, which will be located directly next to Penticton City Hall at Gyro Park.

The project was made possible in part due to a $173,000 grant from the Union of BC Municipalities' Disaster Risk Reduction-Climate Adaptation funding stream, according to the city.

Along with misters and solar lights, the cooling station will feature an accessible walkway.
