Community appreciates art in Vernon

Artsolutely Community Appreciation event draws hundreds to Vernon Community Arts Centre

So was there community appreciation for the Vernon Community Arts Centre’s (VCAC) Artsolutely event over the weekend?

Absolutely.

Hundreds of enthusiastic individuals converged on the arts centre in Polson Park to enjoy an afternoon of artistic exploration and festive treats.

The Artsolutely Community Appreciation event provided a unique opportunity for attendees to witness the artistic process firsthand, as the talented artists showcased live demonstrations, giving insight into the creation of their magnificent works.

“We believe that understanding the effort behind each piece adds a special connection to the art, making the act of gift-giving even more meaningful,” said Sheri Kunzli, VCAC marketing and events coordinator. “Visitors were mesmerized by watching raw materials transform into the very mugs, bowls, sculptures, and scarves that they have purchased for their loved ones. Some even enjoyed creating their own Christmas decorations and greeting cards while sipping on complimentary hot chocolate with all the fixings.”

Centre manager Rodney Goodchild was overwhelmed by the community response.

“It’s a rare occasion where we can come together to celebrate our local arts community and express our gratitude to everyone who contributes to our annual fundraiser, and the overall success of the Centre,” he said. “The generosity displayed by the community is truly commendable, and we are thrilled to announce that we are on target to meet, and hopefully beat, last year’s fundraising total.”

The artists generously donate 20 per cent of their proceeds back to the Vernon Arts Centre, and these contributions play a pivotal role in sustaining the centre’s mission to foster creativity, provide diverse programming, and maintain the facilities for the benefit of all.

The Vernon Community Arts Centre looks forward to continuing its commitment to enriching the local arts scene with the ongoing support of dedicated community members.

“Once again, thank you for making our Community Appreciation Event a resounding success, and we eagerly anticipate future opportunities to celebrate together,” said Kunzli. “Until then, we invite you to continue shopping Artsolutely which is open daily until Dec. 23, and where artists continue to bring in new treasures to choose from.”

The centre is open until 7 p.m. during the week, and 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23.
