A concert celebrating the country takes centre stage in Nanaimo a couple of weeks after Canada Day.

Nanaimo Concert Band will perform a Canadian-themed concert at Maffeo Sutton Park on Monday, July 14.

The show will "celebrate the music of Canada, music about Canada, music written by Canadians, and music performed by Canadians, from the Guess Who, to Moe Koffman, to marches for Canadian regiments," according to a press release.

The performance begins at 6:30 p.m. and organizers recommend attendees bring a chair or a blanket, and water if it's a hot day. People can bring their own food to picnic or buy from one of the food trucks at Maffeo Sutton Park.

There is no admission fee and concert-goers are asked to wear red.
