The Island Consort Chamber Choir is looking to provide comfort and inspiration with music with its concert titled 'The Wonderful World of Music.'
“The repertoire features the anguish of King David over the death of his son, Absalom, the guide to life of Monteverdi’s Beatus Vir, the serenity of two movements from Brahms’s German Requiem, the poignance of Glick’s Northern Sketches and Whitacre’s All Seems Beautiful, Bill Evan’s Waltz for Debby, the playfulness of MacDonald’s Fusion and much more,” reads a news release from the Island Consort Chamber Choir.
The 25-voice choir is directed by Bruce Farquharson and the program will be a mix of a cappella and music accompanied by organ, strings and piano.
The performance will be on Saturday, May 3, at St. Andrew’s United Church, starting at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults and $5 for students. Kids younger than 13 get in free. Tickets can be purchased from the Port Theatre box office or at the door.
