Letter: Speed mitigation didn't need speed bumps

letters

First and foremost, I would like to extend my gratitude to the City of Duncan for their commendable efforts in resurfacing Marchmont Street between Trunk and Day Road.

The strategic extensions of the sidewalks into the thoroughfare will undoubtedly serve to mitigate traffic speed. Previously, there existed a speed limit sign indicating 30 km/h, which is essentially equivalent to that of school zones.

Is that not sufficient? Was it truly necessary to introduce speed bumps? I have not encountered reports of any significant vehicular accidents in that area, so I find it perplexing why such measures were deemed essential.
