Re: 'Helping others is the Canadian way (PQB News, March 19)

In Bob Goos’s letter to the editor in last week’s PQB News he encouraged readers to write to elected officials to echo his request that Parksville have a cold-weather shelter in place next fall.  So that’s what I’m doing.

As Bob said “helping others is the Canadian way” but this council has failed to provide what so many other communities working with the provincial government have been able to deliver - a permanent cold-weather shelter.

I’m not sure if it’s because you’re heartless or incompetent but either way if you want my vote in the next election listen to Bob and provide a shelter for our most vulnerable population.

You might start by revisiting your decision to prohibit the province from using the space at Orca Place allocated to be a cold-weather shelter.
