The American Hockey League has announced that Friday's (June 13) game one of the Calder Cup Finals between the Abbotsford Canucks and the Charlotte Checkers will stream for free on FloHockey's Facebook, X (formerly X) and YouTube platforms.
The league made the announcement on Wednesday (June 11) morning.
Game one begins at 4 p.m. and emanates from the historic Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina. The free broadcast will begin shortly after puck drop on the aforementioned social media channels
Abbotsford earned the Robert W. Clarke Trophy to win the Western Conference after eliminating the Texas Stars in six games after a 4-2 win in Abbotsford on Sunday (June 8). The Canucks also defeated the Colorado Eagles 3-2, the Coachella Valley Firebirds 3-1 and the Tucson Roadrunners 2-1.
Charlotte secured the Richard F. Canning Trophy and the Eastern Conference crown by sweeping the Laval Rocket with a 3-2 win in game four on June 3. The Checkers previously swept the Hershey Bears in three games and also defeated the Providence Bruins 3-2.
FloHockey is a paid-subscription streaming network that carries the AHL, ECHL, SPHL the entire CJHL (including the BCHL), US College and other Canadian junior leagues like the PJHL. They are part of the FloSports network, which includes 25 other different sports, including motorsports, wrestling, track and field and more.
FloHockey regularly offers one weekly game for free on the above platforms during the regular season and has continued to do so in the playoffs. Game one of the Abbotsford Canucks vs. Colorado Eagles Pacific Division Finals series was shown for free on May 16.
Game two of the series, also set for the legendary Bojangles Coliseum, will only be available on the paid service and is set for Sunday (June 15) at 1 p.m. Abbotsford time. The series then shifts to the Abbotsford Centre for games three and four on June 17 and 19. Those games both have a 7 p.m. start. Game five, if necessary, would be inside the AC on June 21. If required, games six and seven would return to Charlotte.
