Overdose alert extended for Williams Lake

An alert has been extended as increase rate of accidental overdoses and even fatalities continues

Interior Health has extended an overdose alert for Williams Lake and surrounding area until June 12.

"Due to a sustained increase in drug overdose deaths and ongoing overdose events," states the notification from Interior Health sent on June 4.

To prevent an overdose, health providers advise users to: 

  • carry Naloxone and know how to use it 
  • beware of mixing drugs, including with alcohol 
  • try not to use alone 
  • start with a very small amount and space out doses
  • use the LifeGuard app - llifguarddh.com
  • call 211 or visit bc211.ca to find services nearby
