1,800 Cariboo residents matched with doctor, nurse practitioner in 2024

The registry is for anyone needing a doctor or nurse practitioner

Lindsey Shewchuk and Jenny McPhee from the Central Interior Rural Division of Family Practice (CIRD) were at the Farmers Market on July 26, 2024, raising awareness about the Health Connect Registry and its role in helping residents find a family doctor or nurse practitioner.

Almost 1,800 people have been matched with a family doctor or nurse practitioner in the Cariboo Chilcotin and South Cariboo areas since January 2024. 

They were matched through the Health Connect Registry, confirmed the Central Interior Rural Primary Care Network in an email. A of the end of July, 2024 just over 5,000 people are still on the registry for the Cariboo Chilcotin and South Cariboo. 

People without a health care practitioner are encouraged to sign up with the registry by calling 811, available seven days a week, 24 hours a day, or register at healthlinkbc.ca

Registration takes less than five minutes and translation services are available. 

To register people will need their personal health number, address and phone number.
