The Village Voices of Qualicum Beach are preparing a sun-filled afternoon, guaranteed to brighten the increasingly shorter days with music.
The choir's fall concert 'Here’s to Song' is set for Nov. 23 at the Christian Fellowship Centre, located at 825 Village Way, according to a news release.
Director Patricia Plumley and accompanist Andrea Lahmer lead the choir every Monday evening through a complex, yet accessible repertoire of choral music.
The talented women guide members with skill, patience and a generous dollop of humour, ensuring each participant has the opportunity to give their best to the group.
Participating in this choir is fun and challenging, but beyond these low-hanging notes of pleasure, the director enriches the spirit through song.
Plumley believes in the joy of shared choral music and for the November concert, she has chosen music that embraces all aspects of this important theme: greeting our neighbours close at hand and around the globe, with optimism in songs such as in 'You Do Not Walk Alone' by Elaine Hagenberg.
As well, care and stewardship of the fragile aspects of the physical world are celebrated in 'All the Diamonds' by Bruce Cockburn.
At the very heart of the choral music in the upcoming concert is celebration of our collective human spirit, communicated in 'Here's to Song' arranged by Lydia Adams.
And to include some fun along the way, the best part of any sunny day: tap your toes to the Village Voices' 'Showboat Medley'; hum along with 'They Can’t Take That Away From Me' and join in the fun with a rousing audience participation number, “Sing Together”.
The concert starts at 2:30 p.m.
Admission is by suggested donation of $20 per person with cash only. Children 12 and under are free. Seating is limited.
