Music lovers and culture enthusiasts in the North Okanagan have something to look forward to next week as the Sundog Festival makes its return to Polson Park.
The inaugural festival kicked off B.C. Culture Days last year, and organizers are looking forward to bringing it back back over "two epic days," Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20 and 21 (4-10 p.m. and 3-10 p.m. respectively).
"I’m incredibly proud of what our team has accomplished. We’ve brought together an amazing group of local community members to create a free festival that features outstanding artists, unforgettable experiences, and a celebration of culture in the North Okanagan. It’s a true reflection of our vibrant community, and we can’t wait to share it with everyone," said Mayla Janzen, with the Sundog Festival Committee and president of the VOICE Society.
Friday night's lineup features an eclectic mix of talents including Indigenous artists like Micsmith, Ray the Nihilist, 538st, and headliner Dakota Bear. Other standout acts include The Miles Skye Club and The Dough Boys ft. BRAINiac.
On Saturday, the stage will feature performances from Danny Bell, Francis Baptiste, Coco Jafro, and more, culminating in an explosive finale by Five Alarm Funk.
As a bonus to festival-goers, the VOICE Society will put on a drone show, making up for the highly anticipated drone performance that had to be cancelled on Canada Day. The show will feature 240 drones lighting up the sky at 8:45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, bringing art and technology together.
"The Sundog Festival is our opportunity to honour diverse voices, connect through shared experiences, and showcase the incredible talent we have in our region. The fun doesn't stop there with over 40 unique arts and culture events happening for three weeks after the kick-off weekend," shared Shawna Patenaude, Arts Council of the North Okanagan executive director.
The Sundog Festival, which is free to attend, kicks off BC Culture Days, Sept. 20 to Oct. 13.
