Sidney stage comes alive with The Sound of Music

The Sound of Music comes to the Charlie White Theatre May 29 to June 1

A group of young performers is bringing a timeless tale and unforgettable songs to Sidney's Mary Winspear Centre.

Triple Threat Performing Arts Society performs The Sound of Music at the Charlie White Theatre from May 29 to June 1.

The production features a cast of 38 incredible performers, aged 7 to 18, in one of the most beloved musicals of all time. Set in 1938 Austria, the story deals with the complexities of the time, while uplifting the audience in a story of hope. Made famous in the 1965 movie starring Julie Andrews, The Sound of Music features such classic songs as Do-Re-Mi and Favorite Things.

"These remarkable youth have spent months honing their craft, pouring their hearts into every note, and now they are ready to bring this timeless story to the stage," said director Victoria Callin in a release.

Showtimes are May 29-31 at 7 p.m. as well as 2 p.m. on May 31, with June 1 shows at 1 and 6 p.m. Tickets are available at marywinspear.ca. The Charlie White Theatre is located at 2242 Beacon Ave. in Sidney.
