Legion's hearts, doors open to community

Valentine's Day dance whirls out chance to cut a rug

Folks may wish to shine up their dancing shoes and line up their sweetheart because a Valentine’s Day Dance is being held at The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #260-100 Mile House.

Organizer Shirley Dupuis says six spot dance prizes and a "big" door prize will be awarded, and there will be snacks to munch on and live music by Perfect Match of Williams Lake.

Doors open at 7 p.m. on Feb. 14, and tickets are available in advance for $15 at the Legion at 933 Alder Ave. on the 99 Mile Hill, or by calling 250-395-2511.

Non-members will be signed in as a guest by members when they arrive, she notes, along with your dance partner, if you bring one.

"This is Valentine’s, and our hearts are open to them all. Anybody is more than welcome, and if they want to bring another guest with them, or a couple, that's fine, too."

Dupuis has a CD by Perfect Match and says they are "fantastic," as they play all kinds of music and take requests from the floor.

"We've had them [in 100 Mile House] a couple of times, and everybody really, really likes them. They are just great."

A safe ride home will be provided for those who need it, and the volunteers will also bring their car home, she adds.
