Former Bond actor Sir Roger Moore dead at 89

The British star played the role of 007 for over a decade

Sir Roger Moore has died in Switzerland after a battle with cancer, according to a X post from his family on Tuesday morning.

“With the heaviest of hearts, we must share the awful news that our father, Sir Roger Moore, passed away today. We are all devastated,” the statement read.

Moore has been the longest serving 007 to date, having taken over from Sean Connery in 1972 and starring in seven movies until 1985: Live and Let Die (1973), The Man with the Golden Gun (1974), The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), Moonraker (1979), For Your Eyes Only (1981), Octopussy (1983), and A View to a Kill (1985).
