Bridge Lake area children's author Becky Citra is getting ready to launch her 17th book on April 19 at 100 Mile House Branch Library.

Her new book, Missing, is tailored for youth between the ages of nine and 13, and the story stays true to Citra's style of taking place in rural Cariboo country.

Thea and her dad are constantly on the move, never staying in one place long enough for Thea to make friends. When life brings them to a guest ranch on Gumboot Lake, she hopes it means the end of their wandering days.

At the ranch, she befriends a local boy, Van, and an abused horse named Renegade, and then involves herself with a decades-old mystery.

Citra says her book has had very good reviews so far from different journalists.

"I think it's going to do very well."

The book launch takes place from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., and will include refreshments and book draws. Citra also plans to do a reading from the new book.

"I'm encouraging kids, and anyone, to come."

Copies of her other books will also be there on display, and for sale.
