A South Cariboo artist is showcasing her art once again at the South Cariboo Business Centre.

Jess Thomas, the owner of Revelry Art and Dance, is the featured artist at the Cariboo Artist Guild's Showcase Gallery this month. Thomas said this show is made up of a mix of paintings from her 2023 debut show Nostalgia and some more recent paintings such as Study: Moffett Falls, which showcases the waterfall of the same name located close to the Horsefly area.

Some of the paintings that Thomas chose have sentimental value to her, including Hold the Horse, which is based off a personal story.

"It is a painting of my grandpa letting me hold the horse when I was just little - just a special moment between me and my grandpa," Thomas recalled the moment, which had occurred in Dawson Creek. However, the painting is not her personal favourite - that would have to be Wild, which depicts her dog Tucker, and Cheers

"This painting of my partner holding up a wine glass with his - you can see his face through the glass, and it's kind of distorted. He's got a funny little mouth, so it's not like a photo," Thomas remarked about Cheers

Many of the paintings depict landscapes and portraits, using bright colours, in addition to the ones highlighted by Thomas.

"I paint with acrylic paint - just regular paint, with the same size of brush for a whole painting, every single painting - probably an inch brush," Thomas remarked about the tools she used to paint her works.

"It feels good to step back and look at what I've accomplished since I started taking painting seriously, or over the last few years, it feels good to step back," Thomas told the Free Press, when asked about how she feels putting on a show like this.

With the exception of Wild and Cheers, all of the paintings are for sale. The gallery says to inquire about purchasing, to call Jess at 250-948-1664. The show is on display until Nov. 5
