The Navy was in the midst of an 11-day training exercise called Ex-Trident Fury, a multi-national event featuring more than 2,000 personnel participating in air and sea maneuvres.

Ex-Trident Fury will return to the West Coast including Barkley Sound from June 19-23, 2025. The biennial event led by Maritime Forces Pacific will involve Royal Canadian Navy ships, Royal Canadian Air Force aircraft, Canadian Army personnel and will include participants from Mexico, Peru and the United States, according to a press release posted online by Tseshaht First Nation.

The exercise provides realistic and relevant training to personnel to enhance the operational readiness and interoperability of the participating forces.

The last time Ex-Trident Fury was undertaken, in June 2023, more than 1,000 personnel participated in nearly a month of exercises.
