VIDEO: Williams Lake quilters share joy, colour with short parade

Cariboo Piecemakers marched in a short parade Tuesday, May 20, in Williams Lake.

They departed from the Central Cariboo Arts Centre where they meet Tuesdays, clad in quilts they had made.

Quilt cub president Sheila Piderman said they saw a club in Nova Scotia held one and thought it would be a great way to share some joy and some colour.

Just before they were supposed to depart, it had been raining hard but then it stopped and the women, with a few grandchildren in two, added to the glorious sunshine and lilac trees in full bloom.

They crossed the rainbow sidewalk then headed north on Fourth Avenue, deliberately passing AgeCare Cariboo Place for the residents to seem.

This is the club’s 40th year and Tuesday was the last meeting before they take a summer break.

"It was just to create some fun," Piderman said. "It was perfect to do that."
