Community members enjoy a meal prepared with local ingredients during a LUSH Valley Farm to Table dinner.

The Comox Valley Food Policy Council (CVFPC) and LUSH Valley Food Action Society have teamed up to celebrate local food in the Comox Valley.

From June 1 - July 20, the community is invited to celebrate local food and connect with the region’s vibrant food scene by participating in a bingo game!

Bingo cards can be found throughout the Comox Valley at participating organizations, including LUSH Valley HQ in Tin Town and the Comox Valley Farmers' Market. Explore the flavours of the Comox Valley and check off activities by buying in-season, local veggies, cooking a meal for your family using local foods or trying a new-to-you locally grown food. Engage with your food growers by thanking a farmer, visiting a farmers’ market or learning about traditional Indigenous foods. Be sure to tag LUSH Valley (@lushvalleyfood) on social media so we can follow along!

Completed bingo cards can be dropped off at LUSH Valley or the Comox Valley Farmers' Market for a chance to win a Good Food Box and anniversary tote bag. One winner will be drawn on July 21.

Whether you’re a seasoned 100-mile eater or just starting your local food journey, it’s bound to be a fun and delicious activity! If you are new to the area and unsure where to start, a guide to the “what, why and how” of eating local in the Comox Valley can be found at lushvalley.org/resources

“By encouraging the community to explore the incredible variety of food grown and produced right here in our valley, we hope to strengthen the connection between people and their local food producers,” says LUSH Valley Executive Director Maurita Prato. “Eating local food supports farmers, reduces transportation emissions, multiplies your dollar within the local economy while avoiding tariffs and builds strong community relationships.”

LUSH Valley is a major supporter of local food producers, having purchased nearly $200,000 worth of food from local farmers and suppliers in 2024 to share with the community through their various programs. The CVFPC has been working with the community and decision-makers to implement policies that support the local food system since 2019.

Eating local foods is a sustainable, ethical and nourishing choice that supports you and our community now and into the future. By investing in local food, you contribute to food security and support local farms, ensuring that future generations can enjoy access to fresh, seasonal produce. Join your community and Eat Local, Comox Valley!
