Finding a purple pumpkin with an attached letter of the alphabet in a participating Armstrong business, and unscrambling a special phrase, can help residents win prizes in the Armstrong Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce's Purple Pumpkin Scavenger Hunt.

In a city known for green things like asparagus and celery, Armstrong is – for a couple of weeks – going purple.

The Armstrong Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce's Purple Pumpkin Scavenger Hunt is underway.

"This exciting, family friendly event will run until Halloween," said chamber executive director Patti Noonan. "We are inviting residents and visitors to explore local shops and businesses while hunting for creatively decorated purple pumpkins."

The purple gourds will be hidden in participating stores throughout Armstrong, each marked with a unique letter. The challenge is simple: collect all the letters, unscramble them to reveal a special phrase, and submit your completed entry for a chance to win big.

Here's how to participate:

1. Grab a Map – The Armstrong Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce will provide maps with the list of participating businesses and their locations. Maps can be picked up at the chamber office or downloaded from the chamber’s website and social media pages;

2. Hunt for the Pumpkins – Search local businesses to find the decorated purple pumpkins and collect the letters;

3. Unscramble the Phrase – Use the letters from each pumpkin to unscramble the mystery phrase;

4. Submit Your Entry – Write the phrase, along with your name and contact information, on the back of the map and return it to the Armstrong Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce office by 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1.

All participants who complete the scavenger hunt will be entered into a draw to win one of three gift certificate baskets, generously donated by local businesses. Winners will be contacted on Monday, Nov. 4.

"The Purple Pumpkin Scavenger Hunt is a great way to engage with the community, support local businesses, and enjoy the festive spirit of the Halloween season," said Noonan. "Whether you're a seasoned scavenger hunter or new to the game, this event promises fun for all ages."
