Coffee's On is up and running and will be held on Tuesdays at the 70 Mile Community Hall from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

It had a restart on Sept. 3. Sally Watson said nine people showed up for the Sept. 3 event. She noted it was a good start.

More people show up in the winter, she said, adding ” It's more of a cabin fever kind of thing.”

Coffee's On is a great, free social event for area residents who would enjoy other people's company. Watson said it is a good opportunity for people to meet their neighbours.

People who come to the event get coffee, a lunch (by donation) and a chance to meet new friends and their neighbours.

Watson said people who are interested in “stepping it up a bit with crafts, art or card games" are asked to bring their ideas to the weekly events. She notes organizers are looking for more cooks for Coffee's On.

What we do is sign up for the responsibility of bringing soup, bread or a dessert on a specific date.”

Call her at 250-395-0278 if you can help.

Coffee's On welcomes residents from nearby communities.

Watson said there will also be a Senior's Workshop at the 70 Mile Community Hall on Sept. 24 at 1 p.m. It's part of the Seniors Helping Seniors program, Watson said, adding there are 70 programs available to be used at community events.

She noted participants at the first meeting can choose the program for the next meeting.

This event is also open to residents from nearby communities.
