Carefree Residents learn how to make paper cranes

The paper cranes were donated to Cecilia de Groot's ongoing project to fold 1,000 paper cranes

On Wednesday, March 19 residents and staff of Creekside Seniors Centre learned how to fold origami paper cranes.

They were taught by Cecilia de Groot, a South Cariboo woman who has been making paper cranes for years. Over an hour de Groot walked them through each step resulting in the creation of several colourful paper birds.

De Groot is currently leading a community initiative to fold 1,000 paper cranes to create a hanging paper crane mobile.
