100 Mile House’s Sikh community gathered at Gurdwara Sahib to celebrate Vaisakhi from Saturday, May 10 to Sunday May 11.
Vaisakhi is celebrated every year by Sikhs around the world to celebrate the birthday of Sikhism in 1699. During the celebrations the Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy book, is read in its entirety and the temple’s flagpole is taken down and washed before being raised again with a new flag.
Gurdwara Sahib was built by the 100 Mile House Sikh Society in 1978 and is located on 146 Blackstock Road.
