Victoria police arrest man wanted on Canadawide warrant

Andre Brunet, 38, was wanted Canada-wide.

The Victoria Police Department have found and arrested Andre Brunet, who was wanted Canadawide for failing to return to his community residential facility, or halfway house, resulting in the suspension of his statutory release.

A VicPD wanted person alert was issued for Brunet on Feb. 26. He was arrested in the 900-block of Humboldt Street at about 2:40 a.m. on March 29 and taken to VicPD cells before being transported to the Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre.

"Thank you to everyone who shared the wanted person alert. VicPD is proud of the dedicated investigative work by the officers involved in locating and arresting Brunet without incident," noted a release from VicPD.

Brunet was on statutory release for convictions related to break and enter with intent, possession of a controlled substance, procuring to make an identity document, and failing to comply with an undertaking. 

He was also previously on a Canadawide warrant after failing to return to his community residential facility in December 2023, and was arrested on Jan. 31, 2024.
